HomeTown Health Recognizes Clinch Memorial Hospital CEO Angela Ammons as Hospital Leader of the Year
Clinch Memorial Hospital’s CEO, Angela Ammons, has been recognized as Hospital Leader of the Year by HomeTown Health. HomeTown Health, LLC is a network of Georgia rural hospitals, healthcare providers, and best practice business partners. HomeTown Health provides legislative representation and continuing education and training for healthcare providers. Angela Ammons, RN, BSN, is originally from Macon, GA and currently lives in Waycross, GA with her husband and together they have six children. She obtained her Associates Degree in Nursing from Coastal College of Georgia in Brunswick, and her BSN through Western Governors University.
Angela Ammons was appointed CEO of Clinch Memorial Hospital in September of 2017. In her first year, she has led a major effort to reinforce Clinch Memorial’s team of professionals and financial condition. Ms. Ammons, her executive team, and the hospital’s Board of Directors have charted a comprehensive strategic plan for this critical access hospital serving Homerville, Clinch County and surrounding South Georgia Counties.
“Clinch Memorial Hospital is working hard to develop the services which our community needs and deserves, and we want our community to know they have a great hospital right here in Homerville.” says Angela Ammons.
In August, the Georgia Department of Community Health’s State Office of Rural Health selected Clinch Memorial to receive a $750,000 Phase IV Rural Health Stabilization Grant from the Georgia Department of Community Health. The hospital’s participation will continue until June of 2019.
“We’ve also succeeded in attracting support from donors through the Georgia HEART tax credit program,” hospital CEO Angela Ammons said. “We received donation applications totaling more than $900,000 this year, but because the overall program is capped, we’ll receive funds totaling $538,275. We hope the Georgia Legislature will study increasing the maximum amount of donations allowed under this program. We’re very grateful to all the people who chose Clinch Memorial Hospital and gave so generously this year.”
After one year, all of these efforts are bearing fruit. New revenue sources are growing, thanks to an aggressive swing bed services marketing program, and a recently announced ventilator program in partnership with Miller General Hospital. Another major milestone will be the launch in January 2019 of a new Clinch Family Practice, with a newly hired Family Nurse Practitioner. CMH has also hired a new internist physician who will be moving to Homerville and joining the hospital staff in August 2019.
“We are fortunate to have an effective leader like Angela Ammons as our hospital’s CEO. Her experience, vision and knowledge of the Georgia medical community have really made a difference and helped spark a real turnaround at Clinch Memorial Hospital.”, said Robert Varnedoe, Chairman of the Board of the Clinch Memorial Hospital Authority.
